Trainer Information

Daniela Röder is the Advisor for Talent Management and Diversity at the TUM School of Life Sciences, Technical University of Munich. In her current role, she leads key processes related to doctoral studies, habilitations, adjunct and honorary professors, and academic appointments. Additionally, she is contributing to strategic initiatives that support inclusive academic development and career progression.

Ulrike Protzer is Director of the Institute of Virology at Helmholtz Munich and Professor of Virology at the Technical University of Munich. She is internationally recognized for her pioneering research on chronic viral infections, especially hepatitis B, and her expertise in developing new therapeutic approaches. Prof. Protzer received a habilitation scholarship at the University of Heidelberg, where she completed her habilitation and established her own research group. She has led interdisciplinary teams and research networks across Germany and Europe, contributing significantly to both basic science and clinical applications.

Robert Schneider is Director of the Institute of Functional Epigenetics at Helmholtz Munich and Professor at LMU Munich. His research centers on chromatin modifications and epigenetic mechanisms in gene regulation and disease. Prof. Schneider has extensive international experience, having been active as scientist in Germany, France, US and the UK. Notably, he did not pursue a habilitation, highlighting alternative pathways to academic leadership in Germany.

Stefanie Schulz heads the working group “Environmental Microbiomes” and is the deputy of the Research Unit Comparative Microbiome Analysis. Since the end of 2021 Stefanie is doing her habilitation at the TU München - TUM School of Life Science - and is now in the final stage of the habilitation procedure. Her research focuses on the consequences and mitigation strategies of climate and global change for microbial diversity,  function and host-microbe interactions in natural and urban ecosystems, thereby focusing on the prevention of environmental derived health risks.
